MUDr. Pavel Stodůlka, Ph.D. 

If we go down the diary of our project, there would be only few moments so much resonating as the story of our cooperating head physician Pavel Stodůlka.

His career journey started in nineties following great academic results. His experience in field of eye surgery varies from laser correction eye defects, cataract surgery to corneal transplantation and retina surgery.

Path of his career has been marked with several primacies. He has soon gained international recognition as innovator and pioneer in the field of eye surgery, based on several ophthalmic operations as the first ophthalmic surgery in the world and surgical operations introduced first in the Czech Republic.

He lectures at prestigious Czech and international eye congresses, teaches at university and conducts specialized courses for foreign eye doctors.

He is a member of the committee of the largest European eye society (ESCRS), a member of the AECOS committee, a vice-chairman of the CSRKCH committee and a member of the committee of the Czech Ophthalmological Society.

AT WHAT AGE IS IT BEST TO GO TO LASER SURGERY?
At least 18 years old and no later than 45 years. It is very important to have a steady eye defect. Around the age of 45, poor near-vision (presbyopia) has already begun. In this case, it is advisable to consider intraocular lens implantation.

CAN I SOLVE ASTIGMATISM BY LASER SURGERY?
Yes, astigmatism can be solved by laser surgery. The most effective method is Relex smile 3D.

CAN I UNDERGO LASER SURGERY EVEN IF I WEAR CONTACT LENSES?
Of course you can. However, it is necessary not to wear contact lenses for at least 5 days prior to consultation and surgery.

WHAT METHOD OF LASER SURGERY IS THE BEST ONE?
All our procedures are very individual, so we always try to find the optimal solution for each patient based on consultation and preoperative examination.

WHAT ARE THE TYPES OF INTRAOCULAR LENSES?
We have certified branded intraocular lenses from Alcon and Zeiss with whom we have many years of experience.

IS LASER SURGERY PAINFUL?
The procedure itself is painless. The eye is numb with eye drops. Our patients do not complain about post-operative pain due to their small incision, for example, using Relex Smile 3D. Occasionally, there may be an unpleasant sensation in the eye that disappears the next day.

WHAT ARE THE LIMITATIONS AFTER LASER SURGERY OF CATARACT SURGERY?
For 3 weeks the patient should avoid sudden movements, swimming in swimming pools, sauna and strenuous physical work (working in the garden).

HOW LONG DOES THE RECOVERY TAKE AFTER SURGERY?
It is normal for your doctor’s recommendation that you can go to work for the second day of laser surgery. However, some restrictions should be observed for 3 weeks.

WHAT ARE THE WAITING PERIODS FOR LASER SURGERY OR CATARACT SURGERY?

Waiting times are very short. In most cases cataract surgery or intraocular lens implantation is possible within 14 days. For laser operations, you can combine consultation and surgery in one day. The waiting period is approximately one week.
